Signal vest

Dog handlers often put a bell on a dog that is walking quietly so that the pass shooters can hear when the dog is approaching. Put the bell at the back of the signal or protective vest, then it will not get filled with snow and the dog will not have to have it so close to its own ears. Many dog handlers find that both wild boar and deer become pensive about the sound and break free more easily. It is also said that wolves are scared by the sound of a bell.   The bell in the picture, which is a well-proven model, can be purchased at decathlon.se

Another tip is to wrap the GPS antenna with so-called vulcanized tape along the collar. This will improve the control of the antenna and it will not come off so easily.

Does a Border Terrier need a protective vest? It depends entirely on the dog and just like us humans, individuals are more or less cautious. Some Border Terriers effectively stay out of reach of fangs, teeth and hooves while others are completely convinced that they can quickly bite a 150 kg boar to death on their own. The latter also often seem to be stuck in the belief that - "someday it will work!" despite a number of previous visits to the vet..... Study your young dog, how it behaves in close contact with game and other things that it should think could be dangerous? Then you will get a hint whether there is a need for a protective vest or not.

Speaking of dangerous behavior, when you find a dead viper, which is what happens every now and then on the roads. Pick it up and use it to train your dog to "not touch", works surprisingly well, perhaps because vipers have a very distinct smell. If your dog ends up at the vet with a viper bite, it is life-threatening, it needs serum, which will be expensive to say the least.
